How your day flows
This is the bird's-eye view of a staff member's working day — from clocking in to closing the register at night. Each step below is a quick one-liner with a link to its full guide, so use this page to see how the pieces fit together and jump to the detail you need.
A day, start to finish
- Log in and clock in. Sign in on the staff portal and record the start of your day — see Clock in & out.
- Open the register. Enter the cash you put in the drawer to start the day. The POS can only take orders while a session is open — see Open & close register.
- Take orders. Build each customer's order and take payment through the day — see Take orders.
- Refund when needed. Reverse a sale after checkout if something goes wrong — see How to refund.
- Log waste. When something spoils, spills, or gets thrown away, record it so stock stays accurate — see Logging waste.
- Record staff-paid expenses. If you pay for something out of the drawer during the day, log it so the cash reconciles at close — see Recording expenses.
- Close the register. Count the drawer and reconcile the day's sales, refunds, expenses, and deposit — see Open & close register.
- Clock out. Record the end of your day — see Clock in & out.
Steps 1–3 and 7–8 are the daily routine; steps 4–6 happen only when the day calls for them.
